On Sunday January 13 Jay Glennie, author of Coattail Publications 'Performance: the making of a classic', and the film's producer Sandy Lieberson were invited to chat all things Performance for the members of Soho House, at their White City venue. This was the first Q&A event the White City location has hosted and we are delighted to say the feed back from the team was wonderful - "it was a brilliant event and super well attended!". Hosting the evening was the esteemed writer, presenter, director and BFI head curator Danny Leigh. A longtime fan of the film, Danny's passion for Performance was obvious. With insightful questions for both Sandy and Jay he really set a great tone for the evening. It was also very humbling for us to hear Danny say so many nice things about our book. Setting out to publish the book we felt we knew the influence of the film but seeing so many fans in one place it really hit home. All aspects of the arts were represented within the audience on Sunday with filmmakers, musicians, writers all in attendance and all quick to pay homage to the work of Sandy, Nic Roeg, Donald Cammell, Mick Jagger, James Fox, Anita Pallenberg and the cast and crew of Performance with great questions for Jay and Sandy. Our book was for sale and lucky buyers were able to have Jay and Sandy sign their book, but also guests from the Performance team such as executive producer David Cammell, makeup artist Linda DeVetta and from Nic's crew, cinematographer Peter Hannan. Many, many thanks to Soho House for making us so welcome and to all who attended. It was such a great night and one we most certainly would like to replicate in other locations. So keep your eyes peeled on our website and social feeds !
